Processes Involved in Tire Processing

Tires are often seen in scrap yards in tonnes; they lay there for eternity unless someone steps up to use them and convert them into a product. Scrapyard tires are often considered trash as most people are unaware of their uses. They are shredded, heated, and further processed into eco-friendly and durable products as tires are purchased.

Products made from tires are highly durable; they withstand any collision or drop. Usually, nothing destroys them other than fire.

Toxicity of Tires in Landfills

Usually, all sorts of trash go to landfills, but it’s a big problem when it comes to tires. Tires have a void space of around 75%, which is a significant number; if tires are shifted to a landfill, they trap greenhouse gases in their void spaces. The trapped greenhouse gases cause them to become buoyant or bubble up to the surface. This bubbling effect can damage the liners of landfill sites which require installation to keep the landfill contaminants, avoiding the contaminants reaching the local surface or groundwater.
